Earlier this month actress Billie Piper was shortlisted for an Evening Standard theatre award for stage play Treats.
Her latest nomination, however, may not be quite so prestigious: Best soft core production at the UK Adult Film Awards.

That is the prize Piper's ITV2 show The Secret Diary of a Call Girl could win when the awards - now in their second year - are presented on 29 November.

Piper plays a high-class prostitute in the show, adapted from the best-seller pseudonymously penned by Belle de Jour.

The eight-part series is the only mainstream production to receive a nomination at the UK Adult Film and Television Awards.

'Changing attitudes'

"The sheer fact that the series was aired is a reflection of the changing attitudes in British society," said organiser Phil Black, who commended Piper for her "brave" performance.

"Series such as this help a nation move closer to an understanding of itself."

Other categories include most outrageous scene, best fetish film and pay-per-view channel of the year.

This year's ceremony will take place at the Troxy nightclub in east London.

The Adults Only Show is organized by ETO and was held in Birmingham at the National Indoor Arena (NIA for shot) on the 5th- 7th October. This is the first time I have attended any of their events so it came as a pleasant surprise since I was there on a mission anyway promoting Wrist Action TV on the Play TV UK stand and to meet up with the various producers who had signed up.

To find out more about The Adults Only Show see here AdultsOnlyShow It was a trade show with plenty going on including various stage shows featuring the Spearmint Rhino Girls, The girls from Eric Prydz video "Follow Me" (You know the one with all those fit birds doing the aerobics) An all girl rock band and a glamor photo shoot lecture.

Those I saw with stands were Anna Span promoting and selling her book on how to make your own erotic home movies (do people make erotic masterpieces at home?) Phil and Cathy Barry, Linsey Dawn McKenzie (was she selling herself? In that case I'll buy two then) and Ben Dover promoting his new Hard Wear merchandising. I was definitely impressed with the gaggle of cute ladies teetering on high heels with his name on their pert bottoms. Well if anyone was going to pull this off it was definitely going to be him pardon the pun.

I had a stroll around and met many a familiar face and some new ones too. As always with these events there are always new girls coming into the business on one level or another and one such girl was Caroline pictured here in the hot tub. She won the Miss Adult Show award, picked up the crown and pocketed the thousand pound prize too. Not bad for a days work.

Even better was the after party that ETO kindly threw for trade in Tricky Dickys with free drinks and entertainment. Though I thought Phil and his crew stitched me up as there was an awful amount of muscle bound man flesh on show with the variety of male strippers flashing and swinging their bits spraying us in baby lotion. It was all to get the girls going which was fair game and was made up with a racy lesbian show with tongues in full contact action to keep the more straight audience sweet.

Jerry Barnett was stitched up but was humorous enough to go along with a lap dance from one of the male strippers...well it wasn't as if he was going to be buggered live was it!? It was all good fun and he played it straight. I like the way he thought I had something to do with it. That sort of vicious, cruel prank is normally the preserve of Johnny Rebel but he wasn't there so who knew who was responsible?

I was dragged up on stage with one of the guys from Play TV to dance in a line up to a crooning drag artist. Someone captured the event on their mobile phone so no doubt it will end up on somewhere like You Tube. Not to mention my impromptu pole dancing towards the end. Someone had to show these girls how it was done....Oh and not to mention my impromptu photo session with Lacey Maguire behind the curtains. Photographer Nick Field has the evidence.

The whole thing was a blast from start to finish. I had a great time. Even though it was fairly well attended I got the impression that a lot of people were confused with the ETO Show a couple of months before this. Maybe next time it will be less confusing and be more of a success than the first time round but as far as beginnings go, I was impressed. Had fun and did some good business too.

The event was attended by a lot of well known faces that are familiar to me, Michelle Thorne and her fella Jay, Isabelle Ice, Keni, Sensi, Teoni, Crystel Lei, Lala, my ol buddy Jay Kay at Real Punting (he shags escorts) Amber Leigh, Lolly Badcock, Sandie, Marino, Pascal...sod it just go to this link on BGAFD if you really want a full list of who was there . Oh yeah and my missus Faye Rampton (cant forget the missus!). Not difficult to be distracted with the likes of Lacie Maguire and Katie K and Ashley Ryder, Scotland's newest adult star. I had a blazingly good time just chatting to everybody I knew including meeting some fans of my work over the years. The audience were entertained by stage shows of pole dancing and a live show that was filmed by Jessica Loveitt.

As you would normally expect with the adult industry things do get lively as I heard somebody got shagged in the toilets (no names mentioned but they beat a hasty retreat to get some o' that good lovin somewhere more comfortable). Faye put on an impromptu show with Wendy Taylor...the usual sort of things that adult stars do when letting their hair down to unwind then.

Hello everyone, you could say I am one of the “new kids on the block”, having been a Producer for just under one year, but being a UK Female Producer is just one part of my position within the adult industry. I also own a licensed sex shop in Hertfordshire, UK.

Being a shopowner gives me a great insight into what the general public are buying in the way of adult goods, people panic that the internet is driving customers away from shops, I disagree – many more couples are visiting sex shops together and purchasing toys alongside dvds, couples that want to watch a dvd in their front room together rather than infront of a computer monitor.

I am also a member of UKAP and have produced three films so far this year and look forward to more filming just before going to Berlin in October. I love this side of the business and my production company SWALK Productions specialises in “couple friendly” films, the main difference is through market research (in our shop to some very broadminded customers!) we produce films with absolutely NO ANAL – shock horror I am sure to some die hard porn fans, but that’s what over 87% of our customers wanted!

UKAP Male Auditions – Diary of the Day!

Driving down to Kent with Wendy Taylor on the morning of the Male Auditions I was feeling a little nervous, was anyone going to turn up today!

I had spoken to many male studs over the past weeks and even taken some deposits to secure their place, but they were walking into the unknown, as was I, this was only my second UKAP Male Audition and I had to arrange it like a military operation.

I did have a few emails from members of the public ensuring me that they were hung like horses, they could shag for England and they could come on demand – how hard (excuse the pun) could it be that easy? The short answer is NO!
Arriving at the studio in Kent I had a quick chat with George (Doll Theatre Producer) and glad that he was going to do the introductory chat with all the guys. The main purpose of this was to ensure everyone knew what the day would entail and also to explain about the role of the “Male Stud” within the adult industry and what is expected of them.

The longest part of this speech was regarding the health implications that all performers face, the importance of this, I feel, can never be underestimated and George really did give a fantastic insight into how performers need to be fully aware of all the risks involved and how they have to protect themselves and fellow performers.
Each guy had to have their full certificates and ID photocopied and both Wendy Taylor and Karlie Simon would look at these in close detail.

It is a well known fact that some performers will try to fake clean certificates to gain work, this is totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated by any UKAP Producer and I hope any UK Producer and George explained that without a current certificate there was no chance of getting any work with any of the Producers who are members of UKAP.
The day started with each guy being able to take a shower and then being introduced to either Wendy or Karlie whom they would be performing with. The performance was not done in a small room with just one Director, this was to be done with two cameras and around seven Producers, not for the faint hearted!!

Out of the ten guys that performed that day approximately four passed the grade immediately, others were given advice and may well get a second chance and a few were probably just too nervous!
This is not an easy job, the female performers are obviously regarded as the draw for many a porn viewer and the guys often get overlooked, however, if you want to make it in the world of porn you will need to understand that the male studs performance can not be faked and you need nerves of steel, because you will find that once the Producer says “I need that shot” You will be the most looked upon guy in that room and will need to deliver.

You will not get rich by entering into this job, you will not be an icon for female viewers like many mainstream guys out there but you will get to meet some of the most beautiful women in the UK and work with some fantastic crews. If you pass the grade and you can perform on demand then you can call yourself a UK Male Stud.

It’s not easy and you will not get regular work until you have proved yourself to a few Producers, this all takes time and a great deal of hard work and determination, but if you are really wanting to make it in the world of porn there is no better way to start than at an open audition infront of some great UK Producers – if you can do it infront of these guys then you can do it anywhere!!

My thanks have to go to George at Doll Theatre for allowing us to use his studio for the day. Wendy Taylor and Karlie Simon for letting us use their bodies for the day and for all the UKAP members who auditioned these guys.

Hi there. I'm Terry. For those who have no idea who I am, I go by the name of One Eyed Jack and I've been around for over 10 years now churning out reality based sex shows, my most current and popular being Real Couples. You can see my other efforts over the years on a variety of other sites I have produced or co-produced with partners.

Its really rather nice that Layla has given me my own little soap box to share my thoughts and views with regards to what is going on in our beloved industry. I know some of you might prefer to hear about the behind the scenes squabbling, bitchin and a fightin' especially when it comes to the subject of who has got chlamydia or syphillis. Oh my god, the mudslinging that went on from producers to performers!

I heard a lot of things that had my dreadlocked head spinning dizzy and I came to the conclusion within myself that if it was all true...Then as an industry we are fucked!

After much consideration over a cup of tea I regained my composure among the squabbling throng of producers at the UKAP summit meeting on August 2nd (members meet up 4 times a year) and we decided the wisest course of action was to put a lockdown on shooting until September at least, but what does this all mean when non members are continuing to shoot knowing full well what has just occurred in Europe? Without any real support you don't have any power and therein is where it all falls down.

Why should producers give a hoot? Its not our dicks and pussies on the line right? WRONG! Just because it is the porn business you are still legally within the remit of the Health ahd Safety act in that you are employing people and if they catch something, they can legally sue you. Some producers seem to think that performers are that stupid until one is made an example of.

Its indicative of where we are with this business really. Sure, the wheels of progress are turning slowly since UKAPs inception, regardless of what people think the UKAP (UK Adult Producers) awards may have come a little bit quicker (thanks to Phil at Red Zone) than the members expected but for better or worse it did happen, BAIHA for those who were there at Sadlers Wells post Darren James HIV scare in the US had some measure of success bringing a majority of producers and performers together in one summit meeting to implement the 30 day testing that seems to be the standard at the moment. without full support of producers throughout the industry the whole thing is going to be an uphill struggle as the minority (UKAP) fight against adversity and apathy (the majority of new and part time producers and webmasters of which there are quite a few now.

Then there is the constant battle against existing and constantly evolving legislation that threatens to affect our very lively hoods with what is going on with VAT, the BBFC and voluntary approval of websites and the home office with regards to criminal Justice and Immigration Bill going through parliament as you read this. Did you know that possession of extreme porn whether still or moving image may land you a spell in chokey for 3 years! The powers that be are trying to instill fear in our customers now and surely that must signal some kind of solidarity among producers to come in for the big fight?

As you can see there is a lot of things going on in my mind, so excuse me if I don't waste time on the light hearted jocular entertainment of naming names and trashing people because in the grand scheme of things all that shit talking don't mean diddly.

He’s old enough to know better. He’s upset a few along the way, and like most he loves the shape of the female form. Alan Wright is of that increasingly rare species: a busy professional who somehow finds the time to paint girls rather than photograph them.
An insurance professional of 30 years standing and part-time artist, his work is vibrant, varied in style, but most importantly erotic. Well it can’t be anything else when his customers include some of the UK’s top porn stars!
“A lot of people have said that my work suggests I’d be younger. And some when they’ve met me have been nice enough to say that I look much younger!!” He turns 48 next month, and plans to continue painting commissions for some of the best looking girls in the UK. “Whilst the paintings might typically be a little bit naughty, and upset some, I like to think they tease and mystify.”
On one level they might appear quite simple, but rest assured they’re anything but. A painting will typically take as long as 20 hours all told, which means at the prices he currently charges he’ll never make a living from it. He’s got the measure of his worth though, and it’s the genuine appreciation on a model’s face when a painting is unveiled that makes it all worthwhile. “These girls know how to smile for the camera, although that’s not the way they need to be captured for one of my paintings.”
He works in acrylic on canvas. “Once you’re an accomplished artist (ahem!) you can do almost anything with acrylics. They blend easily, the colours are vibrant, and they dry quickly. I wouldn’t have the patience to work in oil, and watercolour simply doesn’t suit the subject matter.”
Of his recent commission for top model KazB he says: “‘Nympholepsy’ has marked a potential change in direction. Most of my earlier stuff is, unapologetically, influenced by Jack Vettriano. But Kaz wanted something that bit different, and I give her much of the credit for the success it turned out to be.” He was fortunate enough to hand over ‘Nympholepsy’ in person and meet the gorgeous lady herself, of whom he says: “At only 4 feet 10, she stands head and shoulders above most models. A very switched-on and intelligent young lady who will enjoy unparalleled success in the industry.”
That’s not to say all of his future work will be fantasy based though. “Ultimately the model is the customer and the output is to hang in her home, hopefully for many years to come. We’ll discuss ideas, organise suitable photographs to work from, and then the hard work begins.” Things don’t always go to plan though. “Since I started I’ve put my foot through two canvases! And there’s always an element of self-doubt as to whether I can capture a good enough likeness, although that’s not been an issue with a paid work….yet!”
Whilst he did a lot of drawing as a child, the painting didn’t come until later – much later. Not until 2001 in fact, when he discovered the work of Vettriano and boasted “I could paint like that.” So his son said “prove it” and bought him a set of acrylic paints for Father’s Day. “My early efforts were really quite ugly,” he laughs. “But the turning point came when I moved to a bigger canvas and suddenly found that the larger the work, the easier it became.”
The first paid commission came at the end of 2005 for top Welsh model Crystel-Lei. “A photographer friend was going to the BGAFD Christmas Party and said he’d show my work to see if any girls were interested in a commission. I thought he was wasting his time, but he proved me wrong!” The painting for Crystel-Lei was typical Vettriano in style, but it opened doors to other commissions. The master stroke came when Crystel used it at a three girl shoot, which immediately secured a further commission from Loz.
He’s happy to work for between £100 and £200 – for now. “I’m also now doing work for a couple of girls who don’t model, but definitely have the looks and figures to do so. I’ve got half a dozen commissions lined up currently, which will keep me going for several months.” That doesn’t mean that he’s not hungry for more orders though: “Commissions occasionally fall through, so the more work I have lined up the better.”

Confessions of an X-pose Artist

He’s old enough to know better. He’s upset a few along the way, and like most he loves the shape of the female form. Alan Wright is of that increasingly rare species: a busy professional who somehow finds the time to paint girls rather than photograph them.
An insurance professional of 30 years standing and part-time artist, his work is vibrant, varied in style, but most importantly erotic. Well it can’t be anything else when his customers include some of the UK’s top porn stars!
“A lot of people have said that my work suggests I’d be younger. And some when they’ve met me have been nice enough to say that I look much younger!!” He turns 48 next month, and plans to continue painting commissions for some of the best looking girls in the UK. “Whilst the paintings might typically be a little bit naughty, and upset some, I like to think they tease and mystify.”
On one level they might appear quite simple, but rest assured they’re anything but. A painting will typically take as long as 20 hours all told, which means at the prices he currently charges he’ll never make a living from it. He’s got the measure of his worth though, and it’s the genuine appreciation on a model’s face when a painting is unveiled that makes it all worthwhile. “These girls know how to smile for the camera, although that’s not the way they need to be captured for one of my paintings.”
He works in acrylic on canvas. “Once you’re an accomplished artist (ahem!) you can do almost anything with acrylics. They blend easily, the colours are vibrant, and they dry quickly. I wouldn’t have the patience to work in oil, and watercolour simply doesn’t suit the subject matter.”
Of his recent commission for top model KazB he says: “‘Nympholepsy’ has marked a potential change in direction. Most of my earlier stuff is, unapologetically, influenced by Jack Vettriano. But Kaz wanted something that bit different, and I give her much of the credit for the success it turned out to be.” He was fortunate enough to hand over ‘Nympholepsy’ in person and meet the gorgeous lady herself, of whom he says: “At only 4 feet 10, she stands head and shoulders above most models. A very switched-on and intelligent young lady who will enjoy unparalleled success in the industry.”
That’s not to say all of his future work will be fantasy based though. “Ultimately the model is the customer and the output is to hang in her home, hopefully for many years to come. We’ll discuss ideas, organise suitable photographs to work from, and then the hard work begins.” Things don’t always go to plan though. “Since I started I’ve put my foot through two canvases! And there’s always an element of self-doubt as to whether I can capture a good enough likeness, although that’s not been an issue with a paid work….yet!”
Whilst he did a lot of drawing as a child, the painting didn’t come until later – much later. Not until 2001 in fact, when he discovered the work of Vettriano and boasted “I could paint like that.” So his son said “prove it” and bought him a set of acrylic paints for Father’s Day. “My early efforts were really quite ugly,” he laughs. “But the turning point came when I moved to a bigger canvas and suddenly found that the larger the work, the easier it became.”
The first paid commission came at the end of 2005 for top Welsh model Crystel-Lei. “A photographer friend was going to the BGAFD Christmas Party and said he’d show my work to see if any girls were interested in a commission. I thought he was wasting his time, but he proved me wrong!” The painting for Crystel-Lei was typical Vettriano in style, but it opened doors to other commissions. The master stroke came when Crystel used it at a three girl shoot, which immediately secured a further commission from Loz.
He’s happy to work for between £100 and £200 – for now. “I’m also now doing work for a couple of girls who don’t model, but definitely have the looks and figures to do so. I’ve got half a dozen commissions lined up currently, which will keep me going for several months.” That doesn’t mean that he’s not hungry for more orders though: “Commissions occasionally fall through, so the more work I have lined up the better.”

If you choose you can send the information to me in form of a press release and I will post it on the site, or if you prefer you can just drop me a line that say's for example "Hey Layla this is ____ here, I will be at the full service gig on May 28th, so please put that on the site", or "_______ agency just put _____ on the site" and I will post that information for you.
You are welcome to send pictures and I will gladly post them here to accompany your news.
Personally I think that this site could be the start of a great thing, a perfect tool for people to promote themselves and there companies and products but obviously without any news submissions it's not going to work :)
So if you have something that you would like to promote no matter how big or small just send me an email UKPornNews@sbcglobal.net and I will post it on the site.
For the time being this site will remain in blog format, If the site becomes a success then I may change it to traditional website form at a later date but first of all I would like to give it some time to see if this is a helpful site that brings something useful to the UK market.
